Vermont Youth Conservation Corps crews make a lasting impact on the environment and communities across the Green Mountain State. Whether you’re looking for a seasonal or year-round job in conservation or organic agriculture, you can find your place at VYCC. You’ll work hard and make a difference.

Featured Positions
Year-Round Crew Leader
This is a two-year position with ample opportunity for training/professional development. During the winter and spring, Year-Round Crew Leaders complete projects as a peer group and support operations. In summer and fall, lead a crew of up to six Members in completing forest health, water quality, and/or sustainable outdoor recreation projects.
Dates: March 10, 2025 – Dec 31, 2026
Schedule: Monday to Friday (full time)
Weekly Compensation: $780-$795
Age Requirement: 21+
Year-round Crew Leaders camp with their crews during the season.
AmeriCorps Food & Nourishment Leader
Work with Crew Members in the kitchen. Instruct cooking skills and guide crews through making the daily lunch that is shared with everyone working on the farm. This is an AmeriCorps position.
Dates: May 19 to October 24, 2025
Schedule: Monday to Friday (full time)
Weekly Compensation: Resident: $551; Non-Resident: $664
Education Award upon completion of Service: $5,176.50
Age Requirement: 20+

Crew Leader positions
Leaders are the mentors, guides, and teachers that help Crew Members accomplish their goals. They hold the big picture: the crew, the project, their individual crew members–and bring it all together to lead their crew to success. These positions are open to people ages 18+.
Conservation
Year-Round Crew Leader
This is a two-year position with ample opportunity for training/professional development. Advanced Trail Crew Leader
Lead a crew that completes advanced trail-building projects. Projects may include new trail construction, maintenance, and dry stone masonry. The Advanced Trail Crew camps and works in some of VT’s most beautiful natural areas often in backcountry settings.
Dates: May 21 – October 31, 2025
Schedule: Monday to Friday (full time)
Weekly Compensation: $780 – $825
Age Requirement: 21+
Crew Leaders camp with their crews Monday-Friday.
Youth Crew Leader
Lead a crew of youth Crew Members (age 15-18). Youth crews complete community-based conservation projects. Locations: Woodstock and Burlington. Projects include trail and water quality work.
Dates: May 21 – August 9, 2025
Schedule: Monday to Friday (full time)
Weekly Compensation: $740 – $785
Age Requirement: 21+
This is a camping position.
Women’s Affinity Camping Crew Leader
Lead a crew and build an affirming community for people with a shared identity. Complete trail, water quality, and/or carpentry projects. Depart Richmond each Monday morning, camp and work until a Friday return to Richmond.
Dates: May 21 – Oct 25, 2025 (full season); May 21 – August 9, 2025 (summer only); August 13 – Oct 25, 2025 (fall only)

Queer Affinity Camping Crew Leader

Advanced Forest Crew Leader
Lead a crew that stewards Vermont’s woodlands. Fell trees to improve wildlife habitat and make forests more resilient. Receive paid training and earn the Game of Logging certification (Levels 1 and 2) free of cost.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (full time)

Food & Farm
AmeriCorps Production Leader
Support Farm program staff in nearly all aspects of farm production. Learn about soil health, bed preparation, irrigation, livestock management and tractor operation. This is an AmeriCorps position.

AmeriCorps Community Health Leader
Facilitate Health Care Share enrollment; lead Health Care Share packing and delivery. This is an AmeriCorps position.

AmeriCorps Post-Harvest Leader
Nurture the farm’s propagation house (getting crops started from seed) and wash-pack house (washing harvested vegetables) as crews cycle through to learn and complete these tasks. This is an AmeriCorps position.

Crew Member positions
Members are the reason so many impactful projects get done. They show up ready to learn, serve, and be a part of their crew community. There are Member positions for people with many different skill levels. Whether this is your first job or you are bringing skills and experiences, there is a place for you on a crew. These positions are open to people ages 15+.
Food & Farm
AmeriCorps Production Crew Member
Work in farm fields and greenhouses, wash and pack produce, and cook with the most recent harvest. Learn organic farming practices, how to operate light machinery, set up irrigation, and harvest crops. This is an AmeriCorps position.
Location: Richmond
Dates: May 19 – August 15, 2025
Schedule: Monday-Friday (full time)
Weekly compensation: $500
Education Award upon completion of service: $1,956.35
Age requirement: 18+

Conservation Project Coordinator
We are looking for the Conservation team’s next Project Coordinator! Are you someone who is passionate about engaging young people in high quality hands-on projects? Our crews projects improve and expand access to recreation, improve habitat and ecosystem resilience, and have overall larger community impacts. A successful candidate is skilled in recreation and conservation projects, is a teacher and problem-solver, and is excited about growing themselves in the field of conservation. Conservation Program Coordinator
Are you someone who is excited about mentoring the next generation of environmental stewards? VYCC is seeking a Conservation Program Coordinator to mentor Crew Leaders and support crews of young people. Engaged in all elements of the season, the Program Coordinator will be part of our annual program planning process, engage in recruitment and hiring of Corps Members, and support crew operations during field season. Through regular field visits to their crews and check-ins with their Leaders, they support the development of an inclusive and productive crew. Work environment
Our office is a collegial, bustling, and fun open office atmosphere, which offers staff opportunities to interact and collaborate. Staff members can balance working remotely and on-campus in collaboration with their team schedule, tasks and all-staff gatherings. Successful staff are able to maintain focus and productivity, balance personal initiative and independence, and plug into our team in ways that help us do our best work as an organization.
